Bacteria can be used in aquaculture to improve the clarity in ponds and lakes. The bacteria proliferate and use organic wastes present as a carbon and nitrogen source. With less organic waste present, the clarity of the water improves. Bacteria are part of the natural cycle for returning nutrients to the environment.
